I shooting activly for more then 10 years. More then 60 000 photos in my portfolio. This huge experience really make big difference. If this not thrill you - then think again :)
Some advices for models who wants to look best at photo shoots:
Don’ts
- Do not tan yourself for three days before the shoot, your skin will be slightly red.
- Do not clean or scrub your face AT ALL on the day of the shoot.
- Do not scratch or irritate any impurities in the days before the shoot.
- Do not try out a new hairstyle that you are unsure of before the shoot. Go safe – always.
- Don’t party or drink the night before.
Do’s
- Wash your face a little roughly (exfoliate your skin) just before you go to bed the night before a session. (Gentlemen: Please do this too)
- Be shaved where appropriate. Girls: Legs and under your arms as well as forearms (Yes… Forearms too).
Girls: Especially if we shoot beauty portraits - all inappropriate hair on face must be removed. For example some girl have problem with hair above upper lip - on photos it looks not good and it's hard to retouch.
Guys: Be shaved nicely unless you have been instructed not to.
- Clean your nails. (Everyone forgets this, and it cannot be effectively retouched afterwards) The nails must be well-groomed. No bright manicure, just natural color polish tone, maximum french manicure.
- Have your eyebrows plucked, boys too.
- Get enough sleep. At least two hours more then you normally would. It’s best to get up later then normal instead of getting to bed earlier.
Some must do things:
- Your clothes must be clean without any spots, dusts or your or your pets hair on it (especially black clothes)
- Shoes must be clean (don't forget to clean underneath too) and without obvious signs of oldness
P.S. if I would like to be a model and see that good photographer want to make photos even in that style that I don't like much, I will go on that photoshoot and try to work as best as I can, because if photographer LIKE HOW I WORK he/she CAN invite me in future on some interesting photo shooting. It's a chance and if you don't take it - you loose it. If you don't understand this then you always will work with amateur photographers.
